This little gadget is FANTASTIC at really dampening down the noise of the violin whether its due to feeling self-conscious of playing with other house mates, or the bloke next door etc! Whatever the reason, this will do the job…!! enjoy!

The piece im playing is called Meadow Ayre and was composed by myself. There is no sheet music – sorry.

Tzunah A says:

i bout mine almost 5 dollar and yeah it decreased the sound but not that much.

Bowprentice says:

Hey Alison, what are you thoughts on leather mutes? Have you tried them? I’ve seen very limited information about them online compared to all other mutes.

sgtcrab1 says:

Put a wwoden clothespin on the bridge. It actually works! LOL!

sparrow says:

the song almost sounds Scottish.

catlover12670 says:

Does anyone have the sheet music to the song she played? I really like it!

Colin Hesketh says:

Sorry Alison but you need to push the mute right down so the strings are in contact with the mute. Huge difference.

Rodrick Gunn says:

Or the name of the song I would love to learn it

Daniel jones says:

Thank you beautiful Mama..

gbtayc says:

I have a metal one and it is dramatic how much sound is muted.

girlperson1 says:

I actually can’t hear much of a difference.

Falvodor says:

Was that improvisation during the examples ?

ballin like rodman says:

i am buying a violin for the first time and i dont know the significance the bridge you talked about. there are two of them, i dont know which one to buy. one is classical(modern) the one without bridge and the other with the bridge the semi-acoustic. please suggest what should i do?

PowerOf One says:

Can you buy quieter strings?

monkee Adkins says:

great video! im buying one!

Darby Ashmask says:

there wasn’t a big difference..

Purple Piano says:

Are there mutes that are even quieter?

Taylan Yildiz says:

Thanks for the videos. Is it me or your intonation can be improved?

Türkçeniz TR says:

I think the same voice

Purge Deadshot says:

I’ve been playing violin for 5 years and recently found out what a mute was. Everybody else seemed to have it but I never knew about it

KillahKurlz says:

I just bought one today. this completely puts my mind at ease about neighbors while practicing

MrMjp58 says:

I made one from a pencil eraser. For me.it works better than this at reducing the volume and sounds rather more pleasant.

Travis arijeiV says:

she nailed it at 8:30, it takes away some of the ringing

Rodrick Gunn says:

Could I have the sheet music to the song your playing?

Jim Oswald says:

Awesome!

Snow Drop K says:

Would you recommend buying a soft rubber practice mute?

Viggo Bauman says:

Love your videos. I just bought a violin and I am so excited to start practicing and playing. I’ll be watching your channel religiously at least until I find a proper teacher. I am in the beginning stages of looking for one. I’ll be posting videos of my progress on my channel. Please check it out when you get a chance.

Denneker's Autism says:

That piece is awesome. Really.

Purple Nazli says:

You can hear clearly that the sound is more concentrated in one place with the mute and without the mute it’s more spread out so thinking logically it’s louder without the mute, meaning it works. Everyone saying they can’t hear the difference, listen again.
