Review: Vintage 1965 Holton Galaxy Trumpet

A “show and tell” of a very underrated horn; Holton’s Galaxy Bb trumpet. Very easy blow, nice short valve stroke, great valves and slides and a light bell make this a very user-friendly horn. Enjoy the vid! Jonathan Milam

that is my top favorite horn. I’ve recently got a itch to start playing again, although it’s been years since I graduated high school. I’ve played many top of the line trumpets in my time. but high school I played a besson silver trumpet but it got stepped on in marching band and caused alot of air leaks. our band director had an old holton galaxy horn he’d let me use from time to time and he was impressed at my sound going from a horn that had previously had air leaks and it took alot of air control to get a semi good sound and switching to that galaxy did wonders. One of our all state trumpet players also played the galaxy so it really made me want one. could you point me in the right direction? I can’t find one for the life of me.

I have the T-401, 1970 vintage, found on ebay a few years ago,
nickel finish is almost mint, must have been sitting in a closet all these
years. Love playing this horn, blows freely and nice dark tone. I use in
a 9 pc jazz/rock group.
