First, as someone who was once a wee lad living in Glasgow, I enjoy listening to you talk. Second, I have had a Tromba trumpet for about a year now and I love it. I also have a Yahama TR232, which I also like very much. For jazz and ballads I prefer to play the Tromba. I also have trouble with my left shoulder, elbow and index finger which makes the lighter weight of the Tromba important as it allows me to practice more with less pain. I always use metal mouthpieces as they do give the Tromba a better tone.
Mine plays well in the lower register. I find I have more success playing higher with the Yahama. I play in a community orchestra and a community band. Musicians in both groups have commented on the good sound of the Tromba. I have used it in two performances with the orchestra, but now perform using the Yahama.
I am happy that I have both and plan to keep both and use them for, hopefully, many more years.
