CarolBrass 5000L-YLS Trumpet Review

A review of an excellent horn by CarolBrass; their 5000L-YLS. This trumpet features a large bell (a bit larger than 5 inches) and standard thickness (not a light-weight bell) of brass gauge metal. As with all the CarolBrass horns I’ve had (this is my 6th, I think) the valves and slides are excellent. This trumpet also features a reverse leadpipe but even with the more open leadpipe and large bell it doesn’t seem to demand too much air… This is a fine trumpet. 🙂

Gordon Hudson says:

Carol Brass now has a distributor in the UK and because they are a Far Eastern company they aren’t affected by the weak pound to dollar and pound to euro exchange rate. This means they are vastly cheaper than Bach or any European made instrument. A Bach Strad is £2700 now. The most expensive Carol Brass trumpet is £1100. Most are under £1000. It’s only a matter of time before they start taking market share.
