Yamaha Clavinova CSP-170 Digital Piano Review

Get the Yamaha Clavinova CSP-170 in polished ebony here: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CSP170PE

The Yamaha CSP-170 provides what might be the ultimate piano-learning experience. Its Natural Wood X keyboard is one of the most authentic offered, while its Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano voices radiate from a premium speaker system. There’s also a bevy of features that make learning the piano a lot of fun. Mastering your favorite songs is easy — simply import them from your smart device, then use the Stream Lights feature to learn which notes to play and when. Being loaded with state-of-the-art tech doesn’t detract from the Clavinova CSP-170’s appearance, however — everything is controlled via your iPad, leaving the CSP-170 with a classic, traditional appearance in any setting.

Alan Bishop says:

Erskine, the sound is very good,  was it recorded from a digital output or from the CSP-170 speakers using microphones?

Ambient Sequential Synth Performer says:

What??? This is a $5000.00 piano, where is the demo? The biggest flaw with all digital pianos is the decay rate of the “hit string” either with or without the sustain pedal. Next problem is the sympathetic resonance of all the other strings on each note or chord played. IF I am buying a high end piano these issues need to be addressed up front and fully. I am sick and tired of these deceptive videos on pianos. Just play a song and I am supposed to know if this is a superior Dpiano or just another extremely unplayable digital copy like all the others. $5000.00 and I need an iPod….this is insane. The speaker wattage does not address the sound specification. We need near field monitors built in for the performer and semi-near field monitors aimed for the listeners. IF YOU WISH TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY WITH A “SERIOUS” INSTRUMENT THEN GIVE US A SERIOUS DEMO AND DESCRIPTION.
