Great review Jake .

Renz star says:

crazy that i found them for just 3$ unbranded i guess that’s what justifies it.
But yow i dont know how to play it yet but it really sounds like crap

Steve Scott says:

exactly what I think too

Lawshorizon says:

They’re on Ebay for about 5 bucks US. They’re certainly better then junk like the Blues Band or Pocket Pal, etc. and come in the major keys. Anyway, the Special 20’s comb is obviously of Chinese design. I suspect that Hohner realized that making wood combs is a real bitch and went for some plug and play comb they just needed to drop the plates into. When the Special 20 became popular (because the plastic comb doesn’t uncomfortably swell like wood) they increased its price.

Thanks for the review!
Although I don’t think the 3$ harp is worth a review, I did buy a bunch in C and G to tech kids. Eventually I did not give this to any kid, but kept looking on China websites for a better kids-enabling first harp (some are better, some are even more junk).
I ended up buying couple of Suzuki folkmaster harps and one Bb is always in my pocket, paddy-richter tuned so I can play melodic lines found on many songs (regain A in low octave from the extra 3rd blow G raised by a semitone).
There are some cheap Easttop rounded harps also suited perfectly for kids with smaller hands, and boat-shaped cheap harps shaped like the Golden Melody, which is nice, but not air tight at all (kids need a responsive harp, so I recommend Suzuki folkmaster to their parents since its something they can get on some local store and order from China). Warning – high keys are baaaad – do not get a folkmaster above C (unless you need the D for irish tunes and A in 2nd position). Thanks!

banjo playing bison says:

they sell some of these at my local Casey’s General Store for like $10, and one time a friend of mine wanted to get one, and I told him “trust me this harmonica will be garbage”, and I recommend him a Special 20 and he got one of those recently.

Kerry Crowel says:

Hey Jake, even on a lousy harp you sound good.

Andrei Ivushkin says:

I play Special 20’s but some day I bought 2 Suzuki Harpmaster (silly me) and no modification, gapping and embossing could not bring them to the level of Special 20. Air leak is the most irritating for me – oh that hissing aggrr. I sweared not to buy anything other than Special 20.

Great review. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Shit I wish I had seen this video before I bought mine which one is the best you would recommend

Synic says:

swan is a company in china who makes “instrument” for kids. They sell them to elementary schools so that they can give a somewhat interesting music lesson without spending tons of money. So yeah it sucks as a professional musical instrument but it is actually good for kids WHO DOESN’T REALLY WANT TO LEARN THE HARP because it is really cheap.

Gene Ruffalo says:

Keep practicing,, some people are born with music in their heart and soul, and some have to WORK WORK WORK

Lil Jimmy says:

What were the notes you played in the beginning? I’m trying to learn that.

nr3rful says:

real Americans do not support China anyway…..right ?
